Education: 1960-1961 - Survey Technician program at Ferris University.
1962 - General Business program at Northwest Michigan College.
1964-65 - American Correspondence Schools (ACS) correspondence survey
training program.
1965 -1973 Eight year Land Surveying Apprenticeship under Robert T. Ostling, P.S., Roscommon, MI. (As required by the State of Michigan, Department of  Licensing and Regulation).
1973 - passed the State of Michigan two day Professional Surveyor exam.

1961-1962 - Ostling Surveys, Roscommon, MI.
1964-1972 - Ostling Surveys, Roscommon, MI.
1972-1973 - Polaris Engineering, Gaylord, MI
1973-1978 - Owned and operated Hughes Land Surveying Mancelona, Michigan.
1978 - Joined 1978-2004 -
Gosling Czubak Engineering Sciences Inc. survey department manager, Director of Surveying, senior partner, and stockholder.
2004 to present - Owner and operator of CJH Riparian Bottomlands and Boundary Consulting.

Work experience includes extensive background in survey areas such as: Subdivision plat designing including subdivision surveying and subdivision plat recording; Subdivision plat lot retracement surveying;  Assessors plat design - surveying - and recording, Subdivision re-plat and Subdivision amended plat design - surveying - and recording; Topographic surveys; Road alignment surveys; Property and boundary control surveys; Title and description research; Forensic surveys; Riparian Bottomlands Apportionment surveys; Mineral rights and payment interest allocation surveys; Utility topographic and alignment surveys; Geodetic Control and Global Positioning System (GPS) control surveys; First order horizontal and vertical control surveys; Aerial photographic control surveys, ALTA surveys; and US Corps River - harbor -channel and/or structure condition surveys.

Riparian Bottomlands Apportionment Survey experience: 300+ Riparian Bottomlands Apportionment Surveys designing bottomlands apportionment allocation for approximately 4000 upland parcels; more than twenty four Expert Witness testimonies in Michigan Circuit Courts.

Annual contract surveyor for the Grand Traverse Remonumentation Program of the original Government Land Office corners for the years 1991 through 2004. Contract Peer Review member for the Grand Traverse Remonumentation Program for the years 2004 to the present.
Special recognitions:
Presenter/speaker for the 1975 Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors refresher seminar (for new surveyor's exam applicants) on Subdivision design, surveying, and plat recording.
Acknowledged for contributing surveying insights to a seven article special on Michigan Water Law in the Michigan Bar Journal, September 1987.
Prepared and presented continuing education unit (CEU) seminars on Michigan Water Law and *Approximate Riparian Bottomlands Apportionment Allocation for the Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors in the years 1991, 1993, 1997, 2003, 2009 and 2014.Presented a continuing education unit (CEU) training session on Lot Line Agreements and Quiet Title Actions for the Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors April 1997.
Presented a Bottomlands Partitioning training session at the Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors 58th Annual Meeting in February of 1999.
Program speaker on "Historical and Double Corners" at the Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors Annual Meeting in February of 2001.
Program speaker on "Government Corners vs. Historical Corners for the International Right of Way Association, Ann Arbor, MI. conference, March 2001.
Presented a Bottomlands Partitioning training session at the Michigan Association of Professional Landmen (MAPL) September 19, 2003.
