Riparian Bottomlands Apportionment Boundary:

Only a Court can set the riparian boundary. The Surveyor’s layout is an interpretation of what he or she believes that the Court would do in that particular lake configuration. The Surveyor’s primary objective is to create a proposed apportionment configuration that is “Fair and Equitable” to all of the upland owners involved.

One of the purposes of riparian apportionments is to permit each upland riparian owner their access to navigable water (Heeringa v Petrolje, 279 Mich App 444 (2008))
